Duane Heaton PhotographyDuane Heaton just left The Frederick Basket Company after spending a few hours helping me to perfect my gift basket shots. This is something I continually struggle with. My backgrounds are never as white as I’d like them to be, the perfect props, the lighting needs to be just so …. But tonight I believe I am one step closer to perfection thanks to Duane.

For those of you who don’t know Duane Heaton he is a very talented photographer here in Frederick, Maryland. He has done photo shoots for many companies including The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas and teaches numerous photography workshops and classes.

The Frederick Basket CompanyHow did I get so lucky as to meet Duane? It was Sunday afternoon, the weather was nice and I was looking for a short outing to lift my spirits. What better place to explore then Penn Camera in Rockville. My husband & I had only been there once but when you are looking for a new addition for your camera it is the perfect spot! I noticed the large selection of backdrops in many beautiful colors and textures and didn’t know where to begin. Duane answered my many questions and the more we talked the more I was drawn to his creative nature. After a half hour or so, I asked if he would consider spending a few hours helping me perfect my pictures and to my delight he generously agreed! and the rest as they say is history.

Types of Octavia Tea

White Tea
Harvested by hand only a few days each spring, white tea is made from tender, nutrient-rich, baby tea leaves and is the rarest and least processed of all tea varietals. White tea’s mellow, complex, nectar-like flavor without bitterness makes it ideal for both the new tea-drinker and the seasoned connoisseur. Considered the healthiest of all teas, white tea is known for its anti-cancer potential and has the highest concentration of antioxiants and amino acid L-Theanine.

Green Tea
Due to minimal processing, green tea retains the leaf’s natural appearance and color. Green tea varies dramatically in flavor from grassy and sweet, to floral and fresh, to nutty and roasted. Like fine wine, green tea’s flavor depends on the plant varietal, season of harvest, soil, elevation, weather, cultivation and origin. Green tea is rich in EGCG (one of nature’s most potent antioxidants) and is gaining widespread popularity due to its natural ability to promote weight-loss and good health.

Oolong Tea
A favorite among connoisseurs, oolong teas (also known as Wu-Long) are semi-oxidized and express characteristics in-between green and black teas. Less-oxidized oolong is similar to green tea with a fresh, floral flavor and golden-green infusion. More-oxidized oolong is closer in character to black tea with an amber-colored infusion and notes such as dark chocolate, fruit and roasted sugar. Oolong is said to reduce plaque in the arteries, lower cholesterol, boost metabolism and aid weight-loss.

Black Tea
The most widely known variety in the West, Black Tea comes from leaves that are oxidized, or fermented. Oxidation changes the leaf’s properties and accounts for the dark, rich colors and strong, brisk flavors characteristic of Black Tea. Classic teas like English Breakfast and Earl Grey fall within this category. Black Teas are especially rich in theaflavins and thearubigens (potent antioxidants) which have shown impressive cholesterol-lowering abilities and cardiovascular benefits.

Red Tea
